What’s it about:  A primer on stoic philosophy and stories from history of people overcoming obstacles.

Main takeaway:  The book reiterated many stoic philosophies that I had already found impactful.  The primary idea of the book is summed up in the title; the obstacle is the way.  In essence, the thing that is in front of you must be beaten.  And only by being it can you become the person that you desire to be.

There are other helpful ideas here, all centering around the idea of overcoming what is in front of you.  Look for numerous angles.  Be persistent.  Stay to the cause.  Be a professional.  Don’t panic.  Don’t be overcome by the moment.  All of these things are good.

I will say I wasn’t as impressed with Holiday’s writing styles as I thought maybe I would be?  I know he is very popular, but it just wasn’t my favorite.
