What's it about: The best book on scientifically how to build habits that stick.

Main Takeaway: There is a formula for building habits, and generally we make it way too hard. He has a ton of tips and a scientific framework, but generally I found his ideas around "small" habits to be the most impactful. So instead of trying to start a new training routine, just do 5 push ups every day. It's so easy, it's almost silly not to do it. Or only allow yourself 5 minutes at the gym. The important part is to build the habit, then expand. Make it as easy as possible, not as hard and intense as it can be. Additionally, I love his idea on "identity". I have a person in my office who says, "I'm not a sales guy!" He identifies as not thus embraces the idea he will be bad. We are rigid with our identity. Sometimes, all we need to do is claim, "I'm a person who is flexible!" It just may make us more likely to stretch because it aligns with our identity. We attempt to stick with our identity and it makes it easier for someone to engage in habits around that idea.
